Currently an independent Human Resource Consultant, Bernina has 20 years of experience in Human Resource Management. Providing strategic leadership to senior managers in mid-sized and large companies, her broad experience includes Training & Development, Diversity Management, Talent Acquisition, Organizational Design, Career Development, Employee Relations, HR Compliance, Payroll, and Benefits & Compensation. In addition, as a strategic partner to the Operating Committee, she has helped define and manage key performance indicators that drive increased productivity and, ultimately, higher stakeholder value. The industries she has worked in include Healthcare, Media, and Manufacturing & Distribution.
Bernina is also very socially active in her community, speaking and holding workshops that focus on building young girls’ confidence and helping them to feel empowered. She currently leads the Children’s Ministry at her local church and is part of the teaching team that leads the weekly bible study. She is a regular volunteer at homeless shelters in the Chicagoland area and is currently volunteering with Beds Plus as an onsite HR consultant, assisting individuals in resume writing and honing their job preparation skills.
Bernina earned her Bachelor of Science from the University of Illinois at Chicago and her MBA from North Park University. She is also a member of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM).
She is an avid runner, having completed multiple half-marathons and the 2016 Chicago Marathon.
